Keeping in mind our ultimate aim of “Taking Technology to the Society”, Technovanza 2018 promises to be bigger than ever!

VEERMATA JIJABAI TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE was established in the year 1887 by the name Victoria Jubilee Technological Institute. Upholding a legacy of over a century of excellence and educational prowess, it has always excelled in nurturing the brightest minds of the society. Excellence is a tradition in the institute and success is this institute's gift to many a modern day personalities. It has motivated students for generations to contribute to the society and make our country proud. It is reputed for excellent training in engineering and technology at diploma, degree and post graduate levels for over 3 thousand students. Over 27 courses are offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, postgraduate diploma and post diploma levels. It is one of the oldest and best engineering institutes across India and is a brand in itself.


Technovanza

Technovanza born in 2001 due to the thirst of creativity among our students has grown to become one of the most awaited techno-management event of the country reaching out to students and professionals alike, Technovanza has grown exponentially in the past few years to scale new height. The popularity of this event has increased exponentially reaching not only to the nooks and corners of entire Maharashtra but also to other states like Delhi, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and so on. The student based organization has managed to attract many eminent personalities such as Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, Harsha Bhogle, and Suresh Prabhu and continues to grow every successive year.

Sonam Wangchuk

Founder of Himalayan Institute of Alternatives,Ladakh

Sonam Wangchuk is a Ladakhi engineer, innovator and education reformist. He is the founding-director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) which was founded in 1988 by a group of students who had been in his own words, the ‘victims’ of an alien education system foisted on Ladakh. He is also known for designing the SECMOL campus that runs on solar energy and uses no fossil fuels for cooking, lighting or heating.



Team Indus

First Indian Team on the Moon

TeamIndus (incorporated as Axiom Research Labs[1]) is a private for-profit aerospace company headquartered in Bangalore, India. It consists of a team of professionals from various backgrounds in science, technology, finance, and media, that came together in 2010 with the aim of winning the Google Lunar X Prize competition announced in 2007. Although the competition ended in 2018 without a winner, TeamIndus is still working towards developing and launching their lunar rover mission sometime in 2019.

Co-discoverer of Pluto's smallest moon,Styx

Dr. Henry Throop is a fromer scientist and consultant at Nasa. He is the co-discoverer of Pluto's smallest moon, Styx alnog with team led by astronomer Mark R. Showalter. He is also recepient of awards such as peter debye award, centenary medal of the uk royal society.



Anima Patil

Aerospace and Software engineer at NASA

Anima Patil is one of the 50 most influential women in the Silicon valley. She is an Aerospace and Software engineer at NASA. She is a First Tier Support Engineer for Hi-SEAS and scientist-astronaut candidate for Project PoSSUM (Polar Suborbital Science in the Upper Mesosphere). Nana Patekar

Veteran Movie Actor and Social Activist

Nana Patekar is an Indian actor, writer, philanthropist and filmmaker, mainly working in Hindi and Marathi cinema.He won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Parinda (1989). He then won the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role in Angaar (1992). In 1995, he won the National Film Award for Best Actor as well as the Filmfare and the Screen awards for Best Actor for his role in Krantiveer (1994). He also won his second Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role in Apaharan (2005). In 2017 he won the Filmfare Marathi award for best actor for his performance in Natsamrat.

Pratigya

Hon. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam in his visit to V.J.T.I in 2009, sowed the seeds for this event. One of the most respected social drive across the city, Pratigya aims to inculcate a scientific curiosity in the minds of young students. We have associated with NGO's like Chip Mumbai, Smile Foundation and Tech for India in the previous years. We conduct workshops and practical demonstrations on science topics like light , heat and magnetism. Rubik's cube workshops take place on a monthly basis. Vedic mathematics and glider making workshops are among others.Following are our primary objectices:

Mission Mumbai

Mission Mumbai started about four years ago and within a short span of time rose to prominence. The main objective of the social drive is to tackle worldly problems by providing innovative solutions and/or projects be it Women Empowerment, Deforestation or highlighting the problems of poor working conditions. We have associated with Oasis NGO to conduct E-Waste awareness and collection drives in pour college. We reach out to the senior section of the society through our event Techie@60.
